Urban Adventure Quest is a company that creates interactive city tours based on using smartphones to take the participants on a scavenger hunt while seeing sights and learning the local history.
If the group is big they can split up into teams of 2-5 people and make it a competition for the best score and/or time, although each team has to purchase a Quest with a unique email and password. The tour is created to take around 3 hours, but participants may start, stop and go as they please, taking as much or as little time as they want to.
Guided through a smartphone participants will be solving clues and completing challenges that will navigate them to both well-known and lesser known gems of the city.
Some of the points of interest on this exciting quest are Maryland Science Center, 911 Memorial, Power Plant, Lighthouse, Little Italy and Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, and more.
Washington DC: Walking Tour and African American Museum
This tour begins with meeting your guide at the White House and although the tour is only outside you will learn about the history of this important building as well as the people who inhabited it over the years. Next up is the Capitol One, an architecturally impressive building, where the guide will tell about the neoclassical United States Capitol followed by a visit to see the iconic landmark of the Washington Monument.
During this 90-minute long part of the tour the guide will share stories about America’s history and the influence of African Americans in DC, and after the tour reserved tickets give entry to the National Museum of African American History and Culture where participants get to explore the museum at their own pace on their own.
Baltimore: Baltimore Ghosts Haunted Walking Tour
Spend an hour to an hour and a half walking around Baltimore with a professional guide that will tell stories about the darker, hidden history of the city – the chilling tales of hauntings and ghosts.
Visit locations such as the Fell Family Cemetery and hear why only the males of the family are buried there and maybe you will spot the spirit of William Fell who mysteriously died at age 27. You will also get to visit “The Horse You Came In On Saloon”, a bar that was frequented by Edgar Allen Poe, the famous writer.
You will hear some local accounts of experiences with the paranormal that will haunt you.
The tour is available in the regular version and in the extended version, which will have you discover even more ghostly tales, sightings and hauntings in Baltimore.
The tour is family-friendly, although it is a ghost tour so chilling tales will be told.
Smoking, intoxication and video recording is not allowed on this tour that takes place rain or shine.
Washington DC: Hop-On, Hop-Off Open-Top Bus Landmarks Tour
A great way to move from one iconic and historic landmark within the city is by taking the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus. Choose from 3 different options: Classic, Premium or Deluxe, and 3 different loops: Blue, Red and Yellow. The Yellow Loop also makes stops at some of the hotels for easy transfer to the Red or the Blue Loops.
The Hop-On, Hop-Off buses are perfect when visiting the city for the first time or when time is limited as it allows users to travel around the city from one popular site to the next in a quick and easy way. Stay on the bus the whole loop or hop on at a site, visit it closer, and then hop on another bus when it comes around and continue to the next site. Get on one Loop and change to another Loop to see more places and if visiting Washington DC for more than one day the Premium and Deluxe options provide access to all three loops during 2 days.
The Deluxe ticket also provides a 90-minute panoramic night tour to see the landmarks illuminated by the light at night.
Baltimore: Baltimore & Annapolis Skyway Helicopter Tour
Experience Baltimore and Annapolis from the skies on this 30-minute helicopter experience. The tour will take place in a comfortable aircraft, a climate-controlled turbine jet-powered Bell 20 Jet Ranger, equipped with custom designed floor to ceiling convex windows and noise-cancelling Bose headsets.
The aircrafts seats up to 4 passengers at the total maximum weight of 600 pounds for safety reasons and standards. Flight seating might therefore be reconfigured at the time as passengers will be weighed during check-in. The ride is not suitable for passengers weighing over 300 lbs.
It is recommended to bring/wear sunglasses and comfortable clothes. Passengers must arrive at least 30 minutes prior the flight time for a mandatory safety briefing and late arrivals will be charged an additional $20 after 15 minutes.
Washington DC Must See Sights Half-Day Tour
This 3-hour tour is jam-packed with history of the capitol and some of the most important and historical sites of the city as well as the country. It takes place partly on an air-conditioned bus and partly on foot.
The bus will stop at a strategic place near a site where the guide and the passengers will get off and take a short walking tour with the guide sharing a wealth of knowledge about the place, building or monument, and maybe the people, before getting back on the bus to go to the next place.
Some sites will be seen and told about as the bus passes by, other sites will get a short stop for a photo op only, while others will be the walking tour experience.
All and all, once this tour is over participants will have enhanced their knowledge about this capital city and the US history.
